CAT Ford Performance Racing’s Jason Bright has set the second quickest time in today’s top-10 shootout for the Super Cheap Auto 1000 at Bathurst.
Although pleased to be starting from the front two, Bright was not one hundred percent happy with the lap.

“We lost a little in turn one and at McPhillamy Park,” said Bright.
“I was pretty brave heading down the mountain and got some time back. If I was a little more tidy I could have got another two-tenths.

“I gave it a big crack and importantly I know it’s a fast car.
“I’m glad to get that all done and now concentrate on the race. We are very happy with the car. It’s been fast all week, we have just continued to fine tune it.
“We have been following a plan and now we can concentrate on the race. We are very well prepared and are just waiting to execute things tomorrow.”
Co-driver Mark Winterbottom had to watch the shootout from the garage. He spent the morning’s “happy hour” concentrating on race set-up.
“I was actually very comfortable watching Jason drive in the shootout,” said Winterbottom.

“We knew we had a top-three car, so to be on the front row is excellent.
“I have never started any further up here then 10th, so having some clear track for the green light is already a bonus.
“I drove the car on full tanks and old tyres this morning and the balance was very good.
“I’m sitting in third in the championship, but tomorrow’s race is about winning. Every driver wants to win and that’s the only way to close out my rivals in the championship chase.”
The Super Cheap Auto 1000 starts tomorrow at 10am. The 161-lap race is expected to finish around 4pm.
Network Ten’s coverage tomorrow is from 7am-5pm.
