As sponsor of the Ford Championship at Doral golf tournament, Ford Division in the US has this week presented Australian golfer Craig Parry with the keys to his new 2005 Ford GT supercar.

Parry won the high-performance Ford GT as part of the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral prize package, making it the most valuable automobile prize in the history of the PGA Tour, with a value of more than $US140,000.

A permanent plaque was also unveiled on the 18th fairway of the ?Blue Monster? golf course to commemorate Parry's historic shot on March 7, 2004, to win the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral.

?I am very honoured that the Ford Championship at Doral, Ford Division and Doral Golf Resort & Spa would commemorate my victory this way,? Craig Parry said.

?That shot on 18 will forever be one of my greatest moments in golf and I am grateful for the effort that is being put forth on my behalf.?

To win the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral, Parry holed a 6-iron eagle from 176 yards away to defeat Scott Verplank on the first play-off hole.

Parry was on hand at Doral on October 26 to help unveil the plaque and attempt a re-enactment of his winning shot.

The plaque reads:

?This plaque commemorates Craig Parry?s dramatic finish to the 2004 Ford Championship at Doral. Tied with Scott Verplank after regulation play, Parry used a 6-iron from 176 yards, holing out for an eagle to win on the first play-off hole.?

Participating in the plaque dedication alongside Parry was Paul Russell, Ford GT Marketing Manager; Ed Carbone, Executive Director Ford Championship at Doral; Frank Garahan, General Manager Doral Golf Resort & Spa; and Gary Rosmarin, Vice President CNL Hospitality Corporation.
