Going into round #4 of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship Series, Ambrose is just 11 points ahead of team-mate Russell Ingall (Caltex Racing), but his record of three round wins in the past two years has him as hot favourite for another win.
With the exception of last year's April race, which was won by Rick Kelly, Ambrose has not only won the other Eastern Creek rounds he's totally outclassed the field.
"Eastern Creek just clicks for me and the entire team," said Ambrose.
"The circuit is not up there as a favourite for me to drive, but its sweeping bends clearly suits the Falcon and I.
"After the great victory in Adelaide, I've had two third places finishes in New Zealand and Perth. I should be happy with that, but I've been caught up in a couple of incidents that have not helped our championship challenge.
"I'm not going to dwell on points penalties and fines; I've now dealt with all of that. It's time to get back to the winner's circle.
"I really want to have a good strong run at Eastern Creek. If I do that, then I'm sure we'll be in with a shot of victory."
Since the last round in Perth, nearly all teams have taken the opportunity to test their cars. One driver to make the most of a test day at Phillip Island (Victoria) was CAT Ford Performance Racing's Jason Bright.
"The race schedule is so tight, that we don't get too many opportunities to use our six test days," said Bright.
"It was good to get through our extensive test list on Thursday, many of the things we did were for us to learn more about the car and we come away from the test much better prepared for Eastern Creek.
"I have had mixed results at Eastern Creek, so it remains a challenging event for me that I'd like to win, particularly after having finished second there twice.
"We arrive with more knowledge about the CAT FPR Falcon after our test last week so the team is looking forward to giving it a real shake this weekend."
Eastern Creek will feature a two-day format, with no Friday running. This means Saturday includes a two hour practice, followed by qualifying and a top-10 shootout. Sunday's action will be two 36-lap (140km) races.
