The Strathfield Indy Rally begins in Sydney on Saturday October 21, with it concluding the following Friday 26 October at the Gold Coast Indy Champ Car event.
Ambrose will drive through to the Gold Coast by Wednesday, as his V8 Supercar duties begin the following day at the track.
Ambrose will be part of a 65-car field of different makes and models in a fun event aimed at challenging drivers as well as navigators.
At no stage will any of the cars race on the public roads, with official driver competition limited to speed trials, hill climbs and circuit sprints at purpose built facilities.
Navigational test will be held on the open roads where normal road rules will be strictly enforced.
Ambrose will be partnered by a number of different navigators including Chris Mater from personal sponsor Red Bull.
For the round-winner of the V8 Supercar at Darwin earlier in the year, the event will be a new challenge.
?This is something I?ve never actually done before- so I?m not really sure what to expect,? said Ambrose.
?On the driver events I?ll only get the one crack at it, so I?ll be under pressure from drivers that do these types of events throughout the year.
?Having someone sit beside me will be a bit different, so I?ll have to learn to take some instruction.
?Overall I?m looking forward to a fun week on the road with a large group of race fans.
Ambrose?s XR8 Pursuit ute features a 200 kilowatt, five litre high output V8 engine, with polished alloy sports bar, sports bar tonneau cover, body coloured mirrors and an aggressive body syling kit based on the XR sedan.
The version driven by Ambrose is valued at just under $40,000 and can be made to order through Ford dealers across Australia.
