Australian Marcos Ambrose has posted top 10 times in the final NASCAR Busch Series open test of the year at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina this week.
Ambrose was consistently quick in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion around the 1.5-mile speedway. The former two-time Australian V8 Supercar champion currently sits 11th in the NASCAR Busch Series standings and third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.

The second day of testing brought strong results for Ambrose, who was 14th fastest in the afternoon session and ninth in the evening session. NASCAR Busch Series points leader and Nextel Cup driver Carl Edwards was the fastest driver over the two day test.
Ambrose will enjoy a rare weekend off this weekend before competing in the Carquest Auto Parts 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 26.
“We gained a lot from this final open test of the year and had quite a good car by the end of the two days,” said Ambrose.
“It’s good to be able to test at Lowe’s just a week before we race here, so we can definitely put some of what we have gained into practice next week.
“We’ve had quite a busy schedule lately so as much as I love racing all the time it will be good to have a weekend off in some ways. The team and I will be looking ahead and making sure everything is in place for the rest of the season.”
“The team is working really well and we are making good progress. I was pleased with our pace at Darlington, we’ve shown strong speed here in testing and I’m confident we can carry on our momentum into next week’s race.”
