Marcos Ambrose has his sights set on a strong result in the Bashas’ Supermarkert 200 at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona this weekend.
Ambrose will tackle the Phoenix track for his 31st race in NASCAR, with Phoenix one of the most challenging venues on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule. Phoenix features different banking in the turns at each end of the one-mile venue as well as a ‘dog leg’ kink in the middle of the back straight.
Entering the ninth race of the season Ambrose sits eighth in the NASCAR Busch Series standings in the #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion. The Australian also leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points tally and has scored two top ten results already this season.
Last year in the penultimate race of the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ambrose had a strong showing at Phoenix, qualifying seventh and finishing 15th in the #20 Aussie Vineyards Team Australia Ford F-150.
Ambrose and the Wood Brothers/JTG Racing team are continually improving and moving forward. Twelve months on from his oval racing and NASCAR debut, Ambrose is still intent on learning and developing his skills as he pushes for his first top five of the season.

“Phoenix is a tough race track and one that puts on some really good racing,” said Ambrose.
“I hope to do well there, as we went well there and had some good speed there in the truck towards the end of last season.”
“It’s an interesting sort of place that always puts on a tough race.”
“We are definitely making some progress at the moment with the car and I’m getting a better feel for things with every run.”
“This is a rookie year and we are learning all the time with every single race track and every single experience. It’s just about putting consistent runs together, trying things and making sure we are continually improving.”
“I’m really happy with where things sit at the moment, not only with the points, but how we are moving forward together as a team.”
