Team Australia?s Marcos Ambrose has finished 27th in today?s ninth round of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.Ambrose qualified in 19th position in his Team Australia/Aussie Vineyards Ford F-150, but elected to start from the back of the 36-truck field as he continues his on his steep NASCAR learning curve.
The talented Australian ran strongly for the majority of the race and had worked his way up to as high as 17th before an unscheduled stop on lap 108 ended his run for his best oval racing finish.
Today?s race was won by Todd Bodine, who took the lead of the race for the first time with just one mile (1.6km) to run of the 250.5-mile (400km) race.
Bodine lost a lap early because of a tyre problem, but fought his way back through the field and was in a perfect place to pounce on race leader and pole winner Mike Skinner when the seventh caution of the night came four laps from the end.
Bodine won the race by a fraction of a second from Skinner with Rick Crawford in third as the leading Ford.
David Reutimann, Johnny Benson, Dennis Setzer, Ted Musgrave, David Ragan, Chad McCumbee and Mike Bliss rounded out the top 10.
The win increased Bodine?s lead in the championship with 16 rounds remaining in the 25-race championship.
Ambrose, who has competed in five of the nine rounds of the championship, improved one place in series standings to 33rd and has earned $US42,273 in prizemoney.
The next round of the championship will be the Michigan 200 at the Michigan International Speedway next Saturday.
The speedway will be Ambrose?s first appearance on a Super Speedway of 2 miles (3.2km) in length or more.
