Acquisition Good News for Tickford in Australia

Prodrive announced today that it has purchased 100% of the shares of Tickford so forming a A$250 million global motorsport and automotive technology business.
Tickford has operations in England and the United States, as well as being a joint venture partner in Tickford Vehicle Engineering Pty Ltd (TVE). Another of its companies, Tickford Asia Pacific Pty Ltd (TAP), provides engineering services to TVE and other Ford associates in the Asia Pacific region.
Prodrive is a privately owned, A$150 million company that employs over 450 staff in the UK. It was formed in 1984 by David Richards and it has grown to become one of the largest and most successful motorsport businesses in the world. In the 2000 season, Prodrive successfully campaigned Ford’s Mondeos to first, second and third places in the British Touring Car Championship.
“The Prodrive announcement means that the local Tickford joint-venture with Ford and TAP will have more global resources than ever before,” said TVE and TAP Managing Director, David Flint.
“When TVE was set up in 1991, we had a staff of 4 and little more. With staff numbers of 160 across both local operations, we now produce some of the best road going cars in the country and this announcement helps ensure that we will continue to build upon our reputation for excellence,” says Flint.
Flint will continue to head up the local operations following the change in ownership structure.
“The Tickford brand is a very important nameplate in the Ford family,” said Ford Australia President, Geoff Polites. “The additional resources Prodrive can offer will help us build upon the strength of the Tickford brand.”
