Designed and manufactured by Davenport, the new range of briefs and boxer shorts not only benefit Glenn and Steven; fans can also buy the FTR underwear at retail outlets across the country.
Already a million-dollar business, V8 Supercar team merchandise has quickly become a retail commodity and FTR is at the forefront of this market push.
“For many years teams have sold their merchandise from trailers at the races, through mail order or more recently over the internet - now we are making great strides into the retail end,” said FTR General Manager Jon Matthews.
“This year we have already formed an association with Davenport and Classic Model Cars to take full advantage of the interest from retailers.
“We have further lines of clothing and other accessories going out to retailers, and by Christmas we will see real benefits.
“Merchandise is not only about income for FTR, it’s also further promotion of our team and the V8 Championship itself.
Updating of merchandise lines has become as important as new colour schemes on the racecars themselves.
FTR’s one hundred percent approach to merchandise and marketing mirrors the commitment to its racing.
A full catalogue at www.fordtickfordracing.com, a new merchandise trailer for the races themselves and retail liaison, has seen the team appoint a full time manager for that side of the business.
“This is not something you roll-out on the weekend’s only,” said Matthews.
“We have ongoing purchases happening on-line, the retail end has to be managed and we must stock according to the races themselves.
“It’s very much caps and t-shirts for Darwin, and jackets and beanies for Canberra.
“In Canberra we will have the added benefit of the Ford Merchandise Hall, where all the Ford Racing teams sell their merchandise together in a professionally set-up structure.
“We will staff that with up to five people, and they will work non-stop over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“There’s no doubt that if you want to support Glenn Seton or Steven Richards, we have you covered
Ford Tickford Racing will have over 5,000 merchandise items in Canberra including $1.60 stickers, through to $250 jackets and $685 petrol powered radio controlled cars.
The essential beanie range for Canberra is available for $22 and comes in either navy or royal blue colour schemes.
