Ford today presented its 30 V8 Supercar endurance drivers at Barcode Interactive Entertainment Venue in Melbourne, prior to the first 2007 endurance hit-out at the Betta Electrical Sandown 500 this weekend.

The line-up included Sandown and Bathurst defending champions Jason Bright (Britek Motorsport), Mark Winterbottom (Ford Performance Racing), and Craig Lowndes (Triple Eight – Jamie Whincup absent due to illness).

Ford Rising Star Grant Denyer (Channel 7) and Stone Brother Racing’s James Courtney (this season’s Dancing with the Stars) were among the 30 Blue Oval contenders.

Drivers enjoyed battling each other on Daytona and additional games, a last-chance relax before their first on track-stint tomorrow for practice, followed by qualifying on Saturday and the gruelling 161 lap race on Sunday.

Ford Australia President Tom Gorman, Vice President of Marketing and Sales Mark Winslow, Ford Public Affairs Manager Sinead McAlary and Ford Racing Media Manager Ray Price looked on as the Blue Oval’s talented group were put on display.

“The endurance events are the pinnacle of the V8 Supercar calendar, and thanks to our skilled collection of drivers and teams, the Blue Oval is defending champion at both Sandown and Bathurst,” said Ray Price.

“The line-up we have here today shows the immense depth of our talent, and we are confident of a repeat performance at this year’s endurance events.

“Ford not only won Sandown last year with FPR, we dominated the event with Triple 8 on the third step of the podium.

“We went on to conquer the mountain, Lowndes and Whincup taking home the Peter Brock trophy. The Blue Oval was again the dominant force with James Courtney and Glenn Seton crossing the line in third.”

Bright and Winterbottom took out the event last year in their FPR Falcon, however Bright will contest the 500 this year with his own team Britek Motorsport in the #25 Fujitsu Falcon.

Winterbottom celebrates his 50th V8 Supercar start this weekend, and will share his #5 Orrcon / Ford Credit Falcon with kiwi driver Matt Halliday.

The talented duo of Whincup and Lowndes, who currently sit third and fourth respectively in the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship standings, will again pair up in the #888 Team Vodafone Falcon.
