Ford Australia has announced a number of special edition models at the Melbourne International Motor Show today, including a new Territory SR and a limited edition Falcon Ute, which are both on display.

“The 2007 Territory SR builds on the success of the 2006 model, while also introducing some exclusive features derived from the performance enhanced Territory Turbo model line,” Ford Australia President Tom Gorman said.

“As well as offering sports exterior styling cues, the new Territory SR also delivers a new interior environment and additional functional features.”

Territory SR offers more than $5,000 of additional features for just $1,000 over the recommended retail price of the standard Territory TX RWD and AWD models.

Ford-designed running boards, SR decals and unique 17-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels with a shadow chrome finish complete the SR exterior package, along with two new prestige paint colours that will also be available across the Territory range ? Conquer, a new Ford Blue that is both vibrant and bold, and Silk, which is a soft, blue-tinted silver.

Inside there is standard cruise control and new sports leather trim that has been developed from the distinctive interior styling of the Territory Turbo.

Featuring Warm Charcoal leather seat bolsters and Pyramid embossed Panthor inserts with dark silver contrast double needlepoint stitching, the SR is the first non-turbo Territory model to include a dark interior environment.

Warm Charcoal treatment on the lower instrument panel, door trims and centre console lid, along with a leather steering wheel, gear shifter and park brake, complement the seat trim to deliver a unique interior finish.

Available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, Territory SR will be on sale in limited numbers from April.

Joining the Territory SR in the special edition line-up is the all-new limited edition Rip Curl Falcon XR Ute, which is on display at the show, and the special edition Falcon Tradesman Ute.

“The Rip Curl Falcon XR Utes celebrate Ford’s sponsorship of the 2007 Rip Curl Pro surfing event at Easter and will go on sale in April to coincide with the event,” Mr Gorman said.

“With a number of special Rip Curl features, the unique package offered by the limited edition Falcon XR Utes is sure to attract the attention of recreational customers.”

Offering more than $3,200 of additional features for just $500 over the recommended retail price of the standard XR Utes, the Rip Curl pack will be available on XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8 Styleside Box models, including the XR6 with the E-Gas dedicated LPG engine.

Additional features on the Rip Curl models includes a set of four 18-inch sports alloy wheels, Momo steering wheel, prestige audio system with six-disc in-dash CD player, ‘Rip Curl’ branded XR waterproof seat covers and ‘Rip Curl’ decals.

“The limited edition Rip Curl Falcon XR Ute is a great value package and a truly unique vehicle,” Mr Gorman said.

“And in special recognition of the Rip Curl Pro’s 35th anniversary this year, we’ll also be offering retail customers the chance to win one of five surfing trips with some of Rip Curl’s professional surfers.

“This once-in-a-lifetime experience, for five lucky customers and their best mate, is set to take place at the end of the 2007 surfing season.”

On the workhorse front is the special edition Falcon Tradesman Ute, which is available in both Chassis Cab and Styleside Box body styles.

The Tradesman package offers more than $3,700 of additional equipment for just $500 over the recommended retail price of a standard BF Falcon XL Ute MkII.

In addition to the standard Falcon XL Ute specification, the Tradesman models feature a set of four 16-inch one-tonne rated alloy wheels, air conditioning and Tradesman decals, to provide a no compromise blend of function, style and comfort.

Completing the special edition line-up is the limited edition Falcon ES sedan, which will also be available from the beginning of April.

“The Falcon ES draws on the recent Euro Sports Package, which was released with the launch of BF Falcon MkII, while adding a host of additional premium features to create an exceptional value for money package,” Mr Gorman said.

Falcon ES offers customers an enticing combination of sports, safety and technology features, coupled with outstanding fuel economy courtesy of the efficient ZF six-speed automatic transmission, all at an entry-level price.

The combined recommended retail price of the features on the Falcon ES is $8,000, but the special edition Falcon model will be available to retail customers for just $1,250 more than the RRP of the standard Falcon XT with a five-speed manual transmission.

For customers already considering the purchase of a Falcon XT with the optional four-speed automatic transmission, the additional cost of the ES package equates to just $250.

Key features on the Falcon ES include the six-speed automatic transmission, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), sports suspension and reverse sensing system.

On the exterior, a set of four 17-inch alloy wheels in a unique six-spoke design, along with a high arch rear spoiler and ‘ES’ decals, creates a clear visual differentiation from the Falcon XT.

Inside, the Falcon ES is fitted with the prestige Interior Command Centre (ICC) from the Fairmont, which incorporates dual-zone climate control, prestige audio system with six-disc in-dash CD player and large screen LCD display, and an XR leather-wrapped steering wheel.

A Falcon ES fitted with the optional E-Gas^ dedicated LPG engine will also be offered.

“Ford’s line-up of special edition models represents outstanding value-for-money retail packages,” concluded Mr Gorman.

“With a high level of additional features, they offer something special for buyers looking for a distinctive vehicle, both in appearance and functionality.”
