“Following an exclusive preview of the all-new Mondeo at the Melbourne International Motor Show earlier this year, we can now confirm details of the full local line-up for the keenly anticipated new model,” Ford Australia President Tom Gorman said.
“The arrival of Mondeo adds a comprehensive, new mid-size line-up to our vehicle range and extends the Ford brand into a new market segment, which will welcome a whole new group of customers to the Ford family.”
The four-model Mondeo range is available in sedan and hatchback bodystyles, across LX, Zetec/TDCi and XR5 Turbo specification levels, and with a choice of three powertrains ? petrol, petrol turbo and turbo-diesel powerplants ? and two transmissions, a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.
A high level of standard equipment on all Mondeo models includes Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), as well as full length side curtain airbags, a driver’s knee airbag and an innovative capless refuelling system.
Complementing the strong European pedigree and distinct Ford DNA showcased by the new Mondeo, the latest new Focus model will also be featured on the Ford stand at the show.
“The sensational Focus CoupĂ©-Cabriolet is set to join the Mondeo in Australia in just a few weeks to complete the wave of fantastic new Ford models introduced during 2007,” Mr Gorman said.
“As the sophisticated new star of the Focus range with its blend of luxury, flair and elegance, the CoupĂ©-Cabriolet is another key model in our small car line-up.”
Local performance models will also feature prominently, with a new look Falcon XR sedan making its first public appearance, accompanied by an exclusive, limited edition “XR by Craig Lowndes” Falcon Ute.
The new look Falcon XR sedan features an extensively restyled bodykit, which incorporates new components and a number of unique paint finishes to set it apart from its predecessor, while premium XR sedan models ? XR6 six-speed automatic and all XR6 Turbo and XR8 sedan models ? also gain restyled alloy wheels.
The limited edition XR by Craig Lowndes Falcon Ute will be available on XR6, XR6 Turbo and XR8 Styleside Box models when it goes on sale in October, bringing one of Ford’s leading V8 Supercar stars together with the established performance credentials of the Falcon XR range.
Flanking the Ford display at the Australian International Motor Show, Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) revealed a new addition to its high-performance model line-up with the official unveiling of the F6 X.
Incorporating a number of bespoke FPV features into Ford’s acclaimed Territory vehicle platform, including the F6 270 Turbo six-cylinder engine, performance suspension and Brembo braking system, the new F6 X also features unique exterior styling cues and an exclusive two-tone leather interior.
Due to go on sale in early 2008, the F6 X extends the FPV brand beyond Falcon-based products for the first time and offers customers a new opportunity to experience performance vehicle motoring.
“The introduction of the F6 X opens up a unique opportunity for the FPV brand within the established bounds of performance motoring in Australia,” Mr Gorman said.
“It’s an exciting new model that delivers a truly world-class, Australian-designed, developed and manufactured vehicle experience for existing FPV customers, while it’s also certain to attract and welcome new customers to the FPV family.”
