Jones exited from the 2000 event when rolled onto his roof at Speedstick corner, one of the fastest sections of the street track.
“It certainly gained OzEmail plenty of coverage, but we want to give all our supporters the type of exposure you gain from good performances in the race,” said Brad Jones.
“Our new car handles extremely well, and I’m confident with better power from our engines we can make the top-15 shootout and keep on progressing from there.”
Adelaide features a 250km race on the Saturday and the Sunday; as well as a top-15 shootout on the Saturday following qualifying.
Adelaide is one of the toughest races Jones will face all year, with all drivers having to compete solo; regulations not allowing co-drivers to help share the load.
“Fitness will be all-important, especially in the latter stages of Sunday’s race. I do a lot of training to stay in shape, and I hope this will be an added benefit during the races,” Jones said.
“A V8 Supercar is heavy, making it one of the most demanding racecars you can drive.
“If you’re not fit, your pace will drop off and with the tyres wearing out towards the end of the races you have to work very hard.”
“There’s no doubt that a win in Adelaide is well earned, so victory would feel very special.
Despite the longer distances, teams do not receive a concession on the 10-tyre allowance for the weekend’s practice, qualifying and racing.
Now in its third year, the Clipsal 500 is expected to attract in excess of 160,000 spectators over three days of racing.
Utilising the same facilities used during the Australian Formula One Grand Prix between 1985 and 1995, it is one of the most popular events for teams, fans and sponsors.
